Boxing Day Shopping. Good or Bad?

Today I went with my family to go boxing day shopping in the city (Winnipeg). It was a zoo to say the least. We spent more than 15 minutes trying to turn at one intersection. It was crazy.
We went to Ikea first, where we bought very little for the amount of time we spent there. We also had lunch here. Their Swedish meatballs are amazing! Roasted chicken on the other hand was not as great. I did not end up buying anything here although I did want a couple of different Kitchen sets, bedrooms, and bathrooms (I am easily tempted).
Our next stop was Winners. We were not winners. We walked in and discovered a disaster. It was a mess and there was next to nothing worth buying. I think we walked out with 1 or 2 items. This was probably the most disappointing store we went to. The next store we went to was Costco. This was an ok visit. I bought some cat litter, and a new keyboard and mouse for my surface (Tablet).
I had to start a new paragraph for the next store I visited. Sam and I went to Chapters! I love books, I really wanted to go here because I have a cousin named Amber who has been in Germany for a whole year. She is coming back to Canada on January 6, 2014, and I wanted to get her something. I decided to get her a book called Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I can say this because I am pretty sure she doesn’t know about this blog and won’t read it :P. Anyways, I got her this book, but I also got myself 2 books. One is by my favourite author, the book is called ‘Battle Magic’ by Tamora Pierce. The second book I got is called ‘The Fall of Arthur’ by J.R.R. Tolkien. I decided to get the second book because I had never seen a book by J.R.R. Tolkien that was not involved in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ world.
After this we went to eat supper. We went to my least favourite restaurant. Red Lobster. My whole family including my sisters fiancé loves seafood. I hate it, with a passion. Everyone at the table ordered some form of seafood and I ordered some chicken. My meal was definitely not worth what my parents paid for it. It was dry and the portions were tiny. That is all I will say about it because if I go any further I would probably rant.
In the end, I think that the trip was good. I got to spend some quality time with my family, and I got some new things. Although I did not enjoy supper I enjoyed the rest of the day. So, thanks Mom and Dad for taking us to the city!

Cheesy movie night with the family.

Tonight we decided to watch a extremely cheesy movie, the movie is called ‘a message in a cellphone’. This movie is filled with lots of over exaggerated sound effects, no special effects, and the best lines of any cheesy movie I have seen.

The movie is about some kids who find a cell phone that has a message saved on it. The kids try to solve the password to the voice mail. They also have to avoid the guys who are after the phone. There are scenes that are overly dramatic, my favourite would be a seen where the bad guy is in the main characters house. The reason this scene is so hilarious is the fact that there is mist inside his house.

I Love watching movies like this. They cause loads of laughs and enjoyment for the whole family. I wish my family would do things like this more often!

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. A lot of people ask me why, and so I thought a blog post to explain why was a good idea.

There are many reasons why I love Christmas. One of the reasons I love Christmas is that almost everywhere I look there are decorations such as lights or nativity scenes. I love to look at these displays because they always seem to add ‘joy’ to the house. I say joy because I don’t know what other words would better describe it.

Another reason I love Christmas is that God sent us his son Jesus! This is by far the more important reason to celebrate Christmas. One of my favorite things that my family does is that on Christmas day before we open presents we read the Bible story of the birth of Christ. My parents have always made God a priority in our lives, I am so thankful because that influence has guided me to where I am today.

Lastly, I love the music. I love walking into a store and hearing the Christmas music playing. I love listening to the kids at church sing their songs for the Sunday school concert and I love having Christmas music blaring in my car. The thing about Christmas music is that it is so cheerful that it is hard not to be in a good mood when listening to it.

I want to end this post by saying that I know that not everyone out there gets to enjoy Christmas this way because maybe they don’t have money or maybe their parents aren’t loving. I don’t know where everyone one is at in life and my prayers go out to those less fortunate. This is the very reason why I try to do something to make the less fortunate joyful at Christmas. My friend has a charity that collects gifts and food and hands it out to families that can’t afford it. This year I helped collect gifts. It was cold and sometimes not that fun, but if it means that someone that can’t afford Christmas gets Christmas I say it was worth it. I encourage anyone reading this to find a charity like this in your local area and donate or volunteer.
